Our Mission
For the past 30 years, New Media Learning Center, Inc., a nonprofit based in Novato, has empowered learners with fundamental literacy skills in both traditional and digital forms. With a dedicated focus on youth development, our mission is to cultivate lifelong learning and equitable opportunity/ access to information. The organization empowers youth through accessible technology and creative learning experiences that foster confidence and interest in STEM, the arts, and media.
By building bridges between community networks and individual learning journeys, it supports both traditional reading skills and emerging digital competencies, expanding access to books, reading, and innovative literacy initiatives.
Digital Innovation
In 2016, we established XRlibraries as a central hub for libraries and schools, enabling these institutions to share proven approaches to adopting VR, AR, and immersive technologies. This initiative supports seamless integration of new digital tools in education and expands students' access to technology. Since 2016, more than 200 Virtual Reality systems have been deployed in public libraries across California and Nevada. Making this initiative the largest VR installation in public libraries.
